| Following
the principles of the National Strategy Framework, the Hodder
English Starters offer teaching guidance and flexible photocopiable
worksheets providing 10 minute lesson-starter activities focused on Word
Level or Sentence Level.
Separate Word Level
and Sentence Level packs are available for Year 7 and Year 8, with a new
pack for Year 9 containing both Word and Sentence Level. These resources
offer a wealth of of ideas for consolidating skills and developing KS3
pupils' levels of literacy. There are over 70 lesson-starter activities
in each pack. The activities adopt an interactive, explicit teaching approach
for the whole class and can be selected to complement the focus of a lesson.
The resources include photocopiable/OHT materials, and each starter provides
clear, explicit explanations and step-by-step notes for the teacher to
follow.
